One-hundred years after the sinking of the Titanic, local moviegoers will be able to see the record-breaking 1997 film that chronicled the disaster in eye-popping 3-D when the film is re-released.
Movie aficionados in Canton, however, will get to see the film a week early and with the latest technology when unveils its new large-format upgrade April 4, beginning with early screenings of Titanic 3-D.
Emagine Canton, Novi and Royal Oak will unveil Emagine in E3 next month, boasting floor-to-ceiling screens, state-of-the-art digital sound, high-end decor, improved seating and crystal-clear screens capable of projecting both 2-D and 3-D films, according to a news release.
“E3 is designed to 'one-up' what I would characterize as the second-tier IMAX venues in metropolitan Detroit,” Paul Glantz, CEO of Emagine Entertainment, Inc., said in the news release. “The industry is moving to an early release schedule for large-format releases and we intend to remain on the cutting edge in digital entertainment. Large format has become very popular with consumers and we intend to serve them in an exemplary fashion.”
