Looking for Downtown Events? There's an App for That

Plymouth Downtown Development Authority releases smartphone app.

Looking for the latest live music, comedy, restaurant specials or Small Business Saturday deals in downtown Plymouth? There's now an app for that.

The Plymouth Downtown Development Authority released an app this month serving as a one-stop guide to everything downtown.

The smartphone app, downloadable for Apple and Android devices, is a free download, DDA Director Tony Bruscato said.

"There's an app for everything, and we thought why not an app for downtown Plymouth?" Bruscato said. "We have 130-plus events each year, a lot of shops and restaurants that do a lot of events and have specials, it seemed like a natural fit in a place like Plymouth."

Bruscato said the DDA had a "soft release" for the app at the boulevard tree lighting and Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign kickoff earlier this month, handing out flyers to visitors with QR codes and instructions for downloading the app.

Since then, Bruscato said, the app has registered about 250 downloads.

Included with the app, Bruscato said, are alerts for downtown happenings, listings for trivia nights, specials for downtown shops and restaurants, maps, downtown services and cab directories.

"Anything people might have a need for, we put on the app," Bruscato said. "We'll add things as we get suggestions or as we feel there's a need for more information."

To find and download the app, there are three quick steps:

  1. Launch the app store for your devices (iPhone, iPad or Droid phone or tablet).
  2. Search "Downtown Plymouth."
  3. Download the app — it's free.
