Participants Devour Sliders, Fried Twinkies at RealBarBQ's Olympic Eating Contest

Participants stuff their faces to earn prizes from new barbecue joint in Canton.

While Canton's star Olympian Allison Schmitt was in London earning medals in swimming this past weekend, some local residents were participating in Olympic events of their own back home.

Five local residents with large appetites competed in 's inaugural Olympic Slider Eating Contest at its Canton restaurant location.

Winner Kyle Wadynski earned the proverbial gold medal, a $200 RealBarBQ gift card, by eating 12 pulled pork sliders in 8 minutes. The other contestants each earned $25 gift cards.

For the younger set, five contestants competed in a deep-fried Twinkie-eating contest, where participants eat a deep-fried Twinkie without using their hands. The winner, Aidan Aldis, ate the winning Twinkie in four minutes.

The winner received a $50 iTunes gift card, while the other participants earned bags of toys.

About 50 people showed in the restaurant during the event, according to restaurant representatives.
