Redford Jewelry & Coin Shines in New Plymouth Location

The business offers expertise in fine jewelry trends, custom pieces and jewelry repair.

After almost 30 years in the business, Redford Jewelry & Coin was feeling some growing pains and the need for a bigger space - so they moved to Plymouth.

The new location on the Northeast corner of Haggerty and Five Mile Rd. has been open since June 12, but the business celebrated its grand opening last month.

"We like the area - it's a booming bustling area and the center is pretty and big with a lot of draw," said Owner Cathy Sclabassi. "Also it wasn't far from old location (6 Mile and Beech Daly). I didn't want to lose my long standing customers."

The new space offers customers the same service and merchandise they have come to expect. The store deals in fine jewelry, custom jewelry, repairs, watches and Pandora. It also buys and sells coins, catering to collectors and gold and silver investors.

One of the trends Sclabassi said she's seeing with engagement rings is something called a 'halo effect.'

"The center diamond with the diamonds around it - you know with a lot of the bling I guess, with more diamonds coming down the side," she said. "And you don't have to have a large center diamond to make that look, you can work with any size diamond and get a really nice, pretty ring."

Sclabassi also said she's seeing the trend moving back to yellow gold.

"We have some real pretty pieces in yellow gold with gems," she said.

"We love new the location," Sclabassi said. "My old customers are really happy for us and our new customers are happy we're here. We've got a lot of new faces. It's been great."
