Repair Work on Neehee's Coming Along, Reopening Could Come Soon

Canton restaurant was damaged in June when vehicle backed through front entrance of building.

in Canton could be close to reopening after a its front entrance on June 21.

Vrijesh Patel, co-owner of Neehee's, said the restaurant could reopen as early as Aug. 16 or 17. 

Patel said the interior of the restaurant is finished and crews on Friday were doing masonry work on the exterior of the building. After that, Patel said, new windows and a door need to be installed and Canton Township needs to approve the renovated facility.

"As soon as we get approval, we'll be ready to go," Patel said.

On June 21, a woman backed out of a parking space adjacent to the restaurant and sped backwards into a half-circle, driving through the front of the building. No one was injured in the accident, which surveillance cameras captured on video, but the restaurant sustained heavy damage.

Patel said he is excited for customers to return to the popular Indian food restaurant at 45656 Ford Road.
