Weekend Planner: Kenyan Acrobats, Free Films and More

Plenty to do around town this weekend, from Kenyan acrobats to the Park Players' presentation of the musical Nine to free family movies.

Nine

  • Where:
  • When: 7 p.m. March 29-31
  • Pricing: $12
  • Why Go: The Park Players Theatre Company presents the Tony Award-winning musical Nine, showcasing the talents of more than 100 students. The show centers around an eccentric Italian filmmaker and the women in his life. 

Kenya Safari Acrobats

  • Where:
  • When: 7:30 p.m. March 30
  • Pricing: $25
  • Why Go: Kenya Safari Acrobats, a dance troupe from the heart of Africa, will perform gravity-defying human pyramids, balancing, tumbling, limbo dancing, hurling through hoops and breathtaking contortions, all while clapping to a Benga beat.

Dueling Pianos

  • Where:
  • When: 9 p.m.-midnight March 30-31
  • Pricing: $5 cover
  • Why Go: Enjoy a night of piano-fueled fun as the Dueling Pianos tickle the ivories and play audience requests, making for an improvised and rollicking good time. 

Free Spring Movies

  • Where:
  • When: 9 and 10 a.m. March 31 and April 1
  • Pricing: Free, but it's first-come, first served.
  • Why Go: Goodrich Quality Theaters has its Free Spring Movies series going on, with free movies each weekend through the end of April. This weekend's movie is Yogi Bear.

The Red Mill

  • Where:
  • When: 8 p.m. March 31 and 2 p.m. April 1
  • Pricing: $20 for adults, $17 for seniors and youth
  • Why Go: The Comic Opera Guild presents The Red Mill, an operetta by Victor Herbert, comes to the Village Theater for one night. It features many timeless songs, including "Every Day is Ladies Day," "In Old New York," and "Moonbeams."

More events

  • Dr. Seuss collection: Stop in at the this month for some extensive displays pertaining to the beloved children's author, including items from the 1940s.
  • Steven Mullan will be at 9:30 p.m. March 30. Enjoy pop and acoustic music, and no cover charge.
