The Recovery Project Sponsors Muscular Dystrophy Association's Muscle Walk Detroit

The Recovery Project, a provider of aggressive, focused and effective physical and occupational therapy and training to people with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries and other neurological disorders, announced today it is sponsoring the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s (MDA) Muscle Walk Detroit on Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ford Field. The Recovery Project co-CEO Charlie Parkhill made the announcement.

“Supporting research and raising awareness of neuromuscular diseases is incredibly important to our team because we are treating and working with people fighting various muscle diseases in our clinics everyday,” said Parkhill. “The Muscle Walk is a great way to honor and support those fighting neuromuscular diseases, as well as to raise crucial awareness and funds for health care services, research and, ultimately, effective cures.”

Hundreds of participants will converge on Ford Field for a non-competitive one-mile walk in support of the cause. Thus far, more than 15 teams have signed up and raised $85,000, with a target fundraising goal of $175,000. All proceeds will go directly to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which is the nation’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to funding neuromuscular research, health care services and treatment, and education.

The walk sponsorship is an extension of the The Recovery Project’s ongoing commitment to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Recovery Project Co-CEO and lead physical therapist Polly Swingle serves as a therapy partner of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, working side by side with physicians at the Michigan Institute of Neurological Disorders to evaluate and treat adults with muscular dystrophy in the metro Detroit area.
