My First Blog Ever!

This is my first blog ever! I am trying this out to spread the word about my nonprofit organization that helps to brighten the days for lonely senior citizens in Michigan.

I started Snail Mail For Seniors in 2007 and we have continued to grow since then.  For many years I would visit my grandmother in a nursing home and I noticed something disturbing. Although my grandmother was fortunate to have a large family visit often and her walls were always covered with cards and pictures from her great-grandchildren, many other residents had blank walls and no visitors.

So, I started sending greeting cards to activity directors in nursing homes and asking them to distribute them to people who could benefit from them.  Well, now I send out mail twice a month to over 600 senior citizens!  I could not do this without the help of so many wonderful and creative people that make and donate cards.  I am always looking for more people to contribute, so if you or your kids may be interested, please look at my Facebook page or website to see how you can help!
