Congratulations are in order for the Plymouth & Canton High School Pom Pon Teams. The Plymouth Saberettes, and the Canton Chiefettes competed at the Mid American Pom Pon State Competition, on February 8th at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.
The Breslin Center, home of the Michigan State Spartan basketball team hosted this event, which was open to all middle or high school pom or dance teams throughout the state of Michigan. There were three regional competitions that teams had to compete in, to qualify for the state competition at the Breslin Center.
The Plymouth Saberettes Junior Varsity team, coached by Jillian Covault & Taryn HoloWicki, won the State Title, while the Saberettes Varsity team, coached by, Lauren Fisher & Christie Wilde, placed 2nd in the state.

The Canton Chiefettes Junior Varsity Team placed 6th in the state, while the Chiefettes Varsity Team, coached by Jenny Kesler, placed 10th in the state.
Both Pom squads have a rigorous practice and competition schedule, which begins in May, and culminates with the State Competition in February. All this while maintaining high academic standards, mixed in with some volunteer work in the community.
