2013 Plymouth Ice Festival Opens With a Brrr

With video: Frigid temperatures greet opening of 31st Plymouth Ice Festival.

A more interactive Plymouth Ice Festival kicked off a weekend in downtown Plymouth on Friday with organizer Sam Walton and Eastern Michigan President Susan Martin "cutting" the ice ribbon with a chainsaw.

Walton said today's festivities will include competitions at the AGA Nation rail jam and competitive ice carving.

"We're going to have 35 college students coming out and we're going to be creating between 35-40 new sculptures between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. (Saturday)," Walton said.
