5. Plymouth City Commission meets tonight

The Plymouth City Commission meets at 7 p.m. tonight at Plymouth City Hall. On the agenda:

4. Canton tree lighting this week

Kick off the holiday season Wednesday with the annual Canton Township tree lighting event, from 6-8:30 p.m.

Canton's holiday tree will be lit in front of the Summit on the Park at 6:30 p.m. and special festivities will take place both indoors and outdoors, complete with visits with Santa.

3. Experience Dickens Christmas this week at Plymouth Historical Museum

Want some historical perspective on Charles Dickens' life and works? The Plymouth Historical Museum has its Dickens Christmas exhibit open each Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Jan. 13.

The modern holiday classic Elf screens at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Penn Theatre in downtown Plymouth as part of its holiday classic film series. All seats are $3. The film is rated PG.
