5. PBS' Mr. Steve comes to Canton on Friday and Saturday

Canton Rotary will bring a big dose of holiday cheer to Canton on Friday and Saturday as part of its Candy Canes and Kiddie Rock programming efforts. "Mr. Steve" of SteveSongs, perhaps best known for his role as the co-host of the PBS KIDS morning block featuring favorites such as Curious George and Clifford, will perform 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Village Theater in Canton's Cherry Hill Village.

Tickets for Friday are $16 for Adults, $14 for Seniors and Children. To purchase tickets in advance,  click here. Tickets to Saturday's concert, which offers a holiday reception at 6 p.m. before the start of the concert with some special glitz, glamour, strolling characters, a delicious milk and cookies bar, and more, are $30 for adults, $25 for children and seniors. 4. Canton tree lighting this week

Kick off the holiday season Wednesday with the annual Canton Township tree lighting event, from 6-8:30 p.m.

Canton's holiday tree will be lit in front of the Summit on the Park at 6:30 p.m. and special festivities will take place both indoors and outdoors, complete with visits with Santa.

3. Experience Dickens Christmas this week at Plymouth Historical Museum

Want some historical perspective on Charles Dickens' life and works? The Plymouth Historical Museum has its Dickens Christmas exhibit open each Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Jan. 13.

The modern holiday classic Elf screens at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Penn Theatre in downtown Plymouth as part of its holiday classic film series. All seats are $3. The film is rated PG.
