5 Things You Should Know This Week

Here are five things happening this week that every Plymouth resident should know about.

  1. Teens can learn cupcake decorating at the library. This Monday has been dubbed "DIY Monday" at the . Teens can come and learn cupcake decorating from a professional chef between 3:15 and 4:15 p.m. Registration is required at 734-453-0750 #4 or at the Teen Desk.
  2. Enjoy Michigan landscapes at Lotus Arts Gallery. This is the last week of the exhibit. The exhibit is made up of selective works of a small group of eclectic Michigan artists and features everything from contemporary paintings to experimental photography to mixed media. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  3. Tuesday is the local swearing-in ceremony of Kurt Heise. 20th District State House Representative Kurt Heise (R-Plymouth) at Tuesday at 7 p.m., before the first Plymouth Township Trustees meeting of 2011. Look for a guest column from Rep. Heise on Patch on Tuesday as well, in which he will lay out his goals for his term in office.
  4. The Plymouth Township Board of Trustees meets. The at 7:30 p.m. at , immediately following Rep. Heise's swearing-in ceremony. On the agenda is the approval of township bills, personnel policies and a Wayne County annual permit requested by township staff.
  5. The Plymouth Planning Commission meets Wednesday. The Wednesday at 7 p.m. at . The biggest item on the agenda is the approval of a proposed three-story building at the corner of Ann Arbor Trail and Main Street. Read more about this project .
