5 Things You Should Know This Week

Here are five things every Plymouth resident should know this week.

  1. Plymouth-Canton Community Schools are closed. This week is Midwinter Break for students, so don't be surprised if you see a lot of little ones out and about during the day. If you're a parent looking for something to keep your children occupied, check out from a local music teacher and parent.
  2. Township offices are closed Monday. Monday is Presidents Day, and offices will be closed. , however, will be open. The holiday will not disrupt trash collection for Plymouth Township. However, the City of Plymouth announcd Monday that trash and recycling pickup will be delayed until Tuesday due to the heavy snowfall Sunday night.
  3. City Commission meets Monday. The City Commission meets at 7 p.m. Monday at . On the agenda is the approval of a special meeting of the commission with Northville's City Council to discuss a possible fire services agreement between the two communities.
  4. The DDA will inform public on new streetscape project. Plymouth's Downtown Development Authority will meet with the community three times this week to educate the public on construction of a streetscape project scheduled to begin this spring. Residents may come to the Plymouth Cultural Center at 7 p.m. Monday, at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday or at 2 p.m. Wednesday to learn how the work downtown will affect traffic flow and when it will end.
  5. Seniors learn computing. Forest Computer Solutions kicks off its Monday at the . The classes run from 9-10:30 a.m. every Monday through March 14 and will cover computer basics such as e-mail, photo downloading, instant messaging and more. The cost for each class is $20.
