5 Things You Should Know This Week

Here are five things every Plymouth resident should know this week.

The Plymouth City Commission will meet tonight at  to discuss financing alternatives. The study session, during which no items can be put up for a vote, is scheduled to take place from 6-6:45 p.m.

1. City Commission to take it outside

The Plymouth City Commission will meet at 7 p.m. tonight for a regular meeting that is anything but regular. The commission is beginning its summer parks tour, meeting outdoors at . On the agenda are public hearings for the adoption of the proposed 2011-2012 city budget and an application by Compari's for an additional bar.  The commission will first convene at Plymouth City Hall at 6 p.m. for a study session to discuss financing options.

2. Michigan Philharmonic Youth Orchestra Pops Concert

Members of the  On is the Best of the Beatles, songs from West Side Story, a Looney Toons cartoon medley, Pirates of the Caribbean,the Fairly Oddparents theme and the Pink Panther theme.

3. Planning Commission and Downtown Development Authority meetings

The Plymouth City Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at for a regular meeting. On the agenda is a planned unit development for Daisy Square, 101 S. Main St., and a public hearing for Master Plan adoption. The city's Downtown Development Authority will meet Wednesday at City Hall. The agenda was not yet available at press time.

4. Concerts in the Park

 begins 7:30 p.m. Thursday with the Blue Steel Big Band at Kellogg Park. Admission is free. Contact Carl Battishill at (734) 453-5334 for additional information.

5. The Sound Alternative hits Kellogg Park for Music in the Air

The Sound Alternative will perform for free at Kellogg Park at 7 p.m. Friday during the third week of . The band will play the hits, providing a universal appeal for attendees.
