Canton Drivers Could Face Icy Commute

The National Weather Service is warning drivers to expect icy roads and use caution during the morning commute.

A 2 a.m. weather service advisory predicts a light wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain for the morning commute through the early and mid-morning hours. The mix is expected to develop between 4 and 7 a.m. and could glaze roadways. The weather service statement suggested drivers allow extra time for the morning commute. 

Warm air moving northward will bring a change over to a cold rain from south to north up into the M-59 and I-69 corridors through late morning.

The rain will change back over to snow during the afternoon. Although temperatures will climb above freezing through the late morning hours, untreated or less-traveled roads will likely remain slippery, according to the weather service.

The winter weather advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. until noon Tuesday.
