Canton Police Arrest Woman on Marijuana Charges

The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

While patrolling the northeast corner of Haggerty and Van Born, Canton Township Police stopped a driver in a silver Saturn traveling southbound on Haggerty who ran a flashing red light without braking, according to a police report.

The driver told police she must not have seen the light and mentioned she had just finished work at McDonald’s.  A computer check revealed the woman had her license twice suspended and had a misdemeanor warrant out of Ann Arbor for retail fraud, the report said, and arrested the woman.

While searching the woman’s vehicle, police noticed a large amount of suspected marijuana “shake” in the center console of her vehicle, the report said, and detected the strong odor of what appeared to be marijuana. When police searched the woman’s purse, they found a foil cigar wrapper, according to the report. Inside the cigar wrapper, police found a suspected marijuana “blunt,” marijuana wrapped into a brown cigar wrapping, the report said.
