1. Penn Theatre reopens today 

After undergoing extensive auditorium renovations, the historic reopens today for screenings of E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (PG) at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. for one day only as part of the theater's summer matinee series. Water for Elephants (PG-13) begins screening 7 p.m. Friday and into the weekend. All seats are $3.

2. Plymouth Community Band comes to Kellogg Park for weekly concert

4. Today's forecast: Mild day ahead; cooler overnight temperatures await

Today's temperature will hover between 80 and 84 with mostly cloudy skies, according to WeatherBug. Lows will be a cool 62 degrees with partly cloudy skies.

5. Action, comedy hits screening at Compuware Arena drive-in

Tonight at  Drive-In: Captain America: The First Avenger (PG-13) withTransformers: Dark of the Moon (PG-13); The Smurfs (PG) with Zookeeper (PG) and Cowboys & Aliens (PG-13) with Bridesmaids (R). Check the latest listings at the drive-in's website. Tickets go on sale at 7:30 the night of the movie, and all films begin at dusk (about 9:20 p.m.).
