1. School board, city commission to see new faces

Both the Plymouth-Canton Board of Education and the Plymouth City Commission will see some new faces shortly. Four newcomers will while two newcomers after Tuesday's election.

2. Celebrate Diwali at Canton Public Library

Celebrate Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, at Canton Public Library, 1200 S. Canton Center Rd. at 7 p.m. today in the community room.

Diwali is one of the oldest and most important festivals in India. The name comes from the Indian word "Deepavali" and the literal translation means "an array of lamps." This free family friendly event will feature Indian music, dancing, rangoli, sampling of Indian food and the art of drawing henna patterns

3. 'World War III Tour' comes to Compuware Arena

A slate of nationally-known hard rock bands will hit the stage at Compuware Arena today, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. The concert, dubbed the World War III Tour, features rock bands Hollywood Undead, Asking Alexandria, Borgore, We Came As Romans and Michigan-based Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows. 4. Plan ahead: Boulevard tree lighting in downtown Plymouth

Downtown will become festive Friday as the city on its trees. Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. The event also kicks off the 's red kettle campaign for the holidays.
