Today: Haunted Block Party comes to Old Village this afternoon; race runs through downtown early this morning

Bring the kids and costumes for some fun and games today in Plymouth's Old Village for the annual . Our Old Village blogger posted some on Plymouth Patch!

Plymouth also will see its inaugural Wicked Halloween Run — consisting of a 10k, 5k and Monster Mile — early today in downtown Plymouth. The 10k has sold out.

According to the Plymouth Downtown Development Authority website, the event, which begins at 7 a.m., will offer a costume contest, live onstage dance performances to the Michael Jackson hit song "Thriller," several courses and a haunted finish line. First aid stations and candy will be provided along the route. More information can be found on the race's website, www.wickedhalloweenrun.com.

2. Canton to play Detroit Catholic Central on road Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Canton Chiefs responded to a regular-season loss against Plymouth with a 24-21 win over the Wildcats to move on in the Division 1 MHSAA state playoffs. After Detroit Catholic Central routed Northville today, 56-6, Canton's next opponent was determined. The Chiefs will head to Novi to play Detroit Catholic Central at 1 p.m. Saturday.

4. Mr. Popper's Penguins continues at Penn

The 2011 Jim Carrey comedy Mr. Popper's Penguins continues at the at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. today. All seats are $3. The film runs 94 minutes and is rated PG.
