Pelican Pete, a one-man band and self-billed beach party, is slated for the stage at 6:30 p.m. today at the historic Cherry Hill School. Bring your own blanket, chair and refreshments. Concessions for sale on site.

4. Meet a lawmaker

Michigan Rep. Dian Slavens, D-Canton, plans to visit with constituents at two events. First, an ice cream social 12:30 p.m. today at September Days Senior Center, 46425 Tyler Rd. in Van Buren Township. Then, from  6 p.m. to 7 p.m., she meet constituents for coffee and conversation at the , 45250 Ford Rd.

5. Gas price: $3.70

Canton's low-gas price, according to GasBuddy.com, remains at $3.70 a gallon at , 45001 Ford Rd; Speedway, . and  and , 44404 Ford Rd. and , 45350 Ford Rd. and 5596 N. Lilley Rd. Advice for bargain hunters: Head east on Ford Road and watch the price drop by about 6 cents a gallon.
