2. Honor Veterans
Canton Township's annual program for Veterans Day is set for 6 p.m. Nov. 11 at . The evening is devoted to honoring those who serve n the U.S. Armed Forces. This free program is open to the public.
3. Run, er, Turkey Trot for Epilepsy Research
Registration is open for Canton's 9th Annual Turkey Trot, which benefits epilepsy research. The 5k run/walk at steps off from at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning. Entry fees are $25 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under. Register online at csc.canton-mi.org, in person at , 46555 W. Michigan Ave., or by phone at 734-483-5600.

4. Celebrate Diwali
, the Hindu Festival of Lights, at , 1200 S. Canton Center Rd. at 7 p.m. Wednesday, in the community room.
Diwali is one of the oldest and most important festivals in India. The name comes from the Indian word "Deepavali" and the literal translation means "an array of lamps." This free family friendly event will feature Indian music, dancing, rangoli, sampling of Indian food and the art of drawing henna patterns
5. Furlough Day
The , Canton Public Safety's records bureau, police and fire administrative offices and ordinance enforcement unit will be closed today for a furlough. Township offices reopen at 8:30 a.m. Monday. Police, fire and emergency services will operate normally, as will Leisure Services Department programs outside the township administration building.
