Canton Township offices closed for furlough; spaghetti dinner Saturday at VFW Post 6695 helps Pat and Joanne Savage in their respective fights against cancer.

1. Township Furlough Day

If you have routine busines at the , it will have to wait until Monday. Township business offices, including Canton Public Safety's records bureau, police and fire administrative offices and ordinance enforcement unit are closed for a furlough (unpaid day off).

Township offices reopen at 8:30 a.m. Monday. Police, fire and emergency services will operate normally, as will Leisure Services Department programs outside the township administration building.

2. P-CEP Alumni Tailgate, Pink Footballs

Tonight's - football game features two one-of-a-kind events. First, all former students are invited to attend a pre-game tailgate party from 5:30 to the 7 p.m. kickoff at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, called Gathering on the Gridiron. Tickets cost $5 and include food and entertainment. Buy them in advance at the district office, 454 S. Harvey, Plymouth, or online through the district's website. Game tickets, which also cost $5 will be sold separately at the varsity stadium. (Remember, no more post-half-time free entry.)

During halftime, a helicopter will drop pink footballs onto the field, a deal worked out by former math teacher Barb Marshall and P-CEP's athletic department. The numbered footballs will be sold for $10 apiece, the money going for research supported by the American Cancer Society. But there are prizes, too. The numbered football closest to the center of the field wins its owner $500; second closest pays out $100.

3. Meet Plymouth Fife & Drum Corps

Students interested in music and marching are invited to meet with members of the are invited to an open meeting, at 7 p.m. Oct. 24, in the choir room at .
