Five Things You Need to Know Sept. 1, 2011

Outdoor boot camp, a furlough day and animanga fans meet.

1. Big Green Gym

Today's free outdoor bootcamp class starts at 7 tonight at , on Saltz Road at Morton Taylor Road. Bring your own water and towel. Canton Leisure Services is running nightly classes while is closed for the annual maintenance project. The Summit reopens at 6 a.m. on Saturday.

2. Furlough Friday

The , Canton Public Safety's records bureau, police and fire administrative offices and ordinance enforcement unit will be closed Friday for a furlough. Township offices reopen at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday — offices will remain closed Monday for Labor Day. Police, fire and emergency services will operate normally, as will leisure services programs outside the township administration building.

3. I-275 Pathway Paving

Friends of the I-275 Pathway are crowing about Wayne County's completion of a new paved stretch of trail: It's the Hines Drive he path that goes under M-14, connecting two trailheads.

5. Plan Ahead: Animanga

's Teen Animanga Club — that's for manga and anime fans — will meet to discuss, draw and watch Japanese comics and stories. For seventh to 12th graders, the group is scheduled to meet from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Wednesday at the library. Free.
