Drugs and middle school students; Rosh Hashana begins (Shana Tova!); and 88.1 The Escape has a fundraiser.

1. Drugs and Middle Schoolers

Parents of middle-school aged children are invited to an important roundtable talk at 7 tonight at the Plymouth District Library, 223 S. Main St. in Plymouth. Leading the discussion on kids and prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs are Brian Spitsbergen of Growth Works' director of treatment services, City of Plymouth Police Chief Al Cox, School Resource Officer Brian DeYoung and Principal Clint Smiley.

These specialists will provide parents with signs of drug use, the influence of social media and a picture of what police are seeing in Plymouth and Canton among young teens.

Parents can expect to leave this meeting armed with knowledge of what to look for and who to contact drug use is suspected.

2. Rosh Hashana

Beginning at sundown today, Rosh Hashana begins. You can learn more about this Jewish high holiday by reading a special "five things you need to know" column or meet some neighbors at Rosh Hashanah services, are set for 7 tonight and 10 a.m. Thursday at , 321 S. Ridge Rd.

3. Support 88.1 The Escape

Help the broadcasting students at Plymouth-Canton Community Schools by stopping by , 41980 Ford Rd., between 5 and 9 p.m. for a meal that benefits 's radio station, WSDP. You must bring a copy of this flyer, so that 20 percent of the purchase price is donated.
