1. Canton Farmers Market

Saxophonist Tola Lewis will entertain shoppers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Preservation Park. In-season produce includes: watermelon, plums, apples, apricots, peaches, corn, beets, fresh herbs, tomatoes, zucchini and a whole bunch more. Also: Peace, Love & Planet will collect your old garden plastics for recycling.

2. Congratulations, Scholarship Winners

The 20th annual Oakland Community College 'Golf for Scholarships' raised nearly $40 thousand. The Aug. 19 Auburn Hills’ Fieldstone Golf Cub event drew 110 golfers. Among the 40 students who will benefit from this year's scholarships are two students from Canton: Christal Selwa and Almah Bailey.

Since OCC's “Golf for Scholarships” started 20 years ago, golfers have raised $700,000 to help nearly 400 students.

3. Canton Library Closed

Don't panic — is only closed today and Monday for the Labor Day holiday. The library reopens at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

4. Gas: $3.78

Over at GasBuddy.com, the latest news is that four gas stations, are selling gas at the lowest price in the township: $3.78/gallon. They are: Speedway at 5596 N Lilley Rd., BP at 44404 Ford Rd., Speedway at 45350 Ford Rd. and Valero at 41350 Ford Rd.

5. Plan Ahead: Legal Holiday

The , Canton Public Safety's records bureau, police and fire administrative offices and ordinance enforcement unit will be closed Monday for Labor Day — as will all state and federal business offices, post offices and banks.

Township offices reopen at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Police, fire and emergency services will operate normally, as will leisure services programs outside the township administration building.
