Rotary Club seeks host family for exchange student, trash pickup delayed and township budget talks.

1. Offices Closed

The Labor Day holiday means government buildings, from (not emergency services) to state and federal agencies are closed. Business will return to normal weekday hours on Tuesday.

2. Trash Pick-Up Delay

The Labor Day holiday also means will not collect refuse, recycling or yard waste on today  and all collections this week will be delayed by one day. CWR will resume its regular collection schedule on Sept. 12.

3. Rotary Club Seeks Exchange Students

are interested in sponsoring one or more students from the Plymouth-Canton community who would like to spend a year studying abroad. Applications for the 2012-13 year will be considered soon, but students must be between 16 and 18 by August, 2012. Selected students' names will be announced Dec. 1 and they will leave for the host country in August.

Costs for the “outbound” experience are kept reasonable by Rotary volunteers. For details, call John Kowalski at 734-459-4487. 

4. Gas: $3.78

As of Sunday morning, gas at the , 45001 Ford Rd., is selling for the lowest price you'll find in Canton Township today: $3.78, according to GasBuddy.com. The Speedways at 45350 Ford Rd. and 5596 N Lilley Rd. and the BP at 44404 Ford Rd. are also selling gas for that price.

5. Plan Ahead: Canton Township Budget

A township board of trustees' study session is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the . This session is devoted to the 2012 Capital Improvement Program — which will help define how your tax dollars will be spent. Presentations by department heads are planned.
