1. Canton Chiefs Football Game

Franklin Patriots will take the field again the Canton Chiefs at Plymouth High School, 8400 N. Beck Rd. (The game is set to be played on the JV field near Beck Road.) Gates open at 6:30 tonight; admission is $5 for adults and students; senior citizens enter for free.

2. National Day of Service

Sept. 11 has been declared a National Day of Service and Remembrance. The Muslim Community of Western Suburbs, 40440 Palmer Rd., will host a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, which will include both religious and community leaders. In addition to services, the MCWS is asking participants to bring food that can be donated to area food pantries.

3. Plymouth Fall Festival

There is a whole bunch of cooking going on in Plymouth, part of the fall festival, which kicks off today in downtown Plymouth: The Tastefest, at 6 to 8 tonight at Station 885 in Old Village (tickets cost $15); Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast, at 7 a.m. Saturday, under the Gathering across from Kellogg Park (tickets cost $6 in advance and $7 at the door with kids under 5 years old eating for free); and the Plymouth A.M. Rotary Club's All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner, 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Kellogg Park, rain or shine (tickets cost $9 for adults; $4 kids under 12 years old while those under 2 years old eat for free.) and Noon Rotary Club's Chicken BBQ, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Kellogg Park — with a takeout location at , 44401 Ann Arbor Trail, Plymouth ($10 in advance, $12 at the door).

4. Gas: $3.79

The lowest price you'll find for regular gas in Canton, according to GasBuddy.com reports as of Thursday night, is $3.79 a gallon at , 45495 Michigan Ave. and 41345 Ford Rd., (Citgo), 45490 Michigan Ave.; , 44431 Michigan Ave.

5. Plan Ahead: Hazardous Waste Collection

Canton’s annual will be held Saturday, September 10 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Canton’s Division of Public Works Building, located at 4847 Sheldon Road. This free event is open to Canton residents only.
