1. Connect Your Summer survey

On the 's website is an easy survey, aimed at evaluating the  program. If you participated—whether you earned one badge or dozens—let the librarian know your thoughts online. (The survey includes space for suggestions, too.)

2. Canton Young Marines

Today's the deadline for to reregister—and the day first drills begin. Young Marines must have paperwork, a current doctor's physical and $45. Details are online. And by the way, the Young Marines' yard sale has been rescheduled to Sept. 17 and 18 at the AmVets Post 171, 1217 S. Merriman Rd., Westland, starting at 8 a.m.

3. Quake stories

If you felt the effects of Tuesday's 5.8-magnitude, you can help researchers by filing what's called a "felt" report. Researchers use this data to evaluate quakes as well as help emergency responders during future temblors. Share your experiences online—and see the original map of reports, updated in real time.

4. Gas: $3.65

As of 7 p.m. Tuesday, the lowest-priced gas in Canton Township is being sold by , 42495 Joy Rd., according to GasBuddy.com.

5. Plan ahead: blood drive

If you can donate blood but haven't recently, consider helping Canton Public Library during Friday's drive, 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. This American Red Cross event includes a chance for donors to win prizes such as two tickets to Cedar Point and free gasoline for a year.
