Plymouth-Canton school board votes on contracts, Canton Township trustees decide vendor contracts and get ready for the annual plant exchange.

1. Plymouth-Canton Schools' Board Meets

The Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Board of Education will review a series of employee contracts during a regular meeting set for 7 tonight at the district office, 454 S. Harvey St. in Plymouth.

2. Canton Trustees Meet

A series of contracts—for everything from installing a driveway for the township's dog park to landscaping along Michigan Avenue to a Chevron energy audit—are on the agenda for the Canton Township board of trustees meeting, set for 7 today at the , 1150 S. Canton Center Rd.

3. Plant Exchange

Now is the time to cull that garden or flowerbed and think of what else belongs. The has master gardeners volunteering to run a plant exchange for the next two Sundays. And don't worry if your flowerbed is just a pile of dirt; plants will be sold for $1 each. If you do plan on donating, make sure the plants are healthy and clearly labeled. The farmers market is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays at Preservation Park, on South Ridge Road near Cherry Hill Road.

4. Gas: $3.75

A gallon of regular gas at , 41350 Ford Rd., costs $3.75 as of Monday evening, according to GasBuddy.com. Also, most stations will drop the price by anywhere from three to five cents if you are paying cash.

5. Plan Ahead: Buy a Rain Barrel

The Alliance of Rouge Communities (ARC) will host a rain barrel sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the city of Westland's Department of Public Services parking lot, 37137 Marquette, east of Newburgh Road. The 55-gallon barrels are valued at $150 but will be sold for $60, tax included, with $1.50 from each barrel benefiting ARC. No preorders, and sales are on a first-come, first-served basis.
