Happy Second Birthday, Plymouth-Canton Patch

Today marks two years since launch of Plymouth Patch.

On Friday, we reached a milestone on Plymouth-Canton Patch's Facebook page: 1,500 "Likes." Well, 1,501 as of this writing.

One year ago today we were celebrating 900 Facebook fans. We also were celebrating Plymouth Patch's first "Patchiversary."

Today, we mark our second Patchiversary, and time definitely flies.

Today marks two years since the launch of Plymouth Patch. I noted this last year, but we were the first Michigan Patch site to go live, and Patch couldn't have picked a better first community to call home.

In those two years, we've expanded and now have 30 Patch sites in Michigan from Fenton to Trenton and in June, we combined efforts with Canton Patch to bring you Plymouth-Canton Patch.

There still is room to grow, however. You, the readers, have been invaluable since our launch in feeding us news tips, commenting on stories, sharing stories, submitting photos and events, etc. We'd like to invite you to contribute even more. Here are some ways you can help:

  • Sports parents: We know you're at every game, cheering on your student-athlete's team. We accept scores — and photos — from local parents, players, fans and coaches. Post your photos to our Pics & Clips gallery and post your recaps as an announcement
  • Bloggers: Do you have a hobby, interesting profession or expertise, or a unique perspecive you'd like to share with our readers? We invite you to blog on Patch! Getting started is ridiculously easy. Just click here.
  • Photos: Are you one of those people who runs around town with a camera? If you ever have anything interesting to share, you can submit photos to our community photo gallery, or consider starting a photo blog (see above!).
  • Civic groups and organizations: Did you know you can submit events for free on Plymouth-Canton Patch? Here's how.
  • Commenters, polls: Don't be afraid to spark discussion on our forums. It's a great way to engage with other readers of our site.
  • Social media: If you haven't already, check out our Facebook and Twitter pages and follow us! Sometimes this is where you'll get the most recent news, often as soon as it breaks.
  • Sign up for our newsletter: Be sure to sign up for our daily newsletter to get Patched in with the latest happenings in your community!
