In Photos: Bikers Escort Traveling Veterans Memorial Out of Plymouth

Hundreds accompany the memorial from Compuware Arena to Commerce Township in advance of Detroit Bike Week.

Hundreds of leather-clad bikers gathered silently Wednesday around Canton resident Sam Watters as he delivered a solemn benediction at the parking lot in Plymouth Township.

Minutes later, the revs from the engines of hundreds of motorcycles filled the air.

In advance of Detroit Bike Week, hundreds of bikers escorted the American Veterans Traveling Tribute to the Multi Lakes Conservation Association in Commerce.

The bikers were accompanied by police officers from Inkster and Plymouth Township.

The traveling tribute, which includes an 80-percent-sized replica of the Vietnam Memorial, will make a five-day stop in the metro Detroit area, according to a news release issued by Detroit Bike Week. More details about Detroit Bike Week can be found at its website.
