Tony Bruscato, director of the Plymouth Downtown Development Authority, said live music has been a big part of the downtown area for about 30 years, starting with smaller-scale performances on street corners. "When you bring in thousands of people to downtown, the people not only have an opportunity to be in the park for the music, but they filter out and many times spend more time than the event is scheduled to get something to eat or shop downtown," he said. "Certainly, the business owners benefit, also."

The BelAirs are scheduled to perform 7 p.m. today in Kellogg Park for the second week of Music in the Air. All concerts are free and appropriate for all ages.

Throughout the summer, children's concerts are held each Wednesday afternoon, Plymouth Community Band concerts take place each Thursday evening and Music in the Air draws big crowds on Fridays at the park.
