The weather: Pack for chilly nights

Around Plymouth, National Weather Service forecasts called for rain today with a high of 58 degrees and a low of 52. Saturday and Sunday were predicted to be warmer, but with a chance of rain and thunderstorms. Monday was looking to be sunny and warm.

Across Michigan the weather predictions are similar. Rain was in the forecast today, Saturday and Sunday all the way to Lake Michigan on the west side of the state and up to the Mackinac Bridge. Temperatures were expected to be slightly cooler: in fact, a frost advisory was issued Thursday night for the Traverse City region.

The gasoline report: Here's where to fill up

This afternoon, the cheapest gas around town was reported on michigangasprices.com at the Speedway at 1490 Sheldon Road and Ann Arbor Road West, the Mobil at 1545 Ann Arbor Road West and Sheldon Road, and the Marathon at 400 Ann Arbor Trail West near South Main Street and South Mill Street, all coming in at $3.85.

If you just want to get out of town and don't want to take the time to fill up before leaving, know that the Plymouth prices are a bit lower than the average Detroit gas station price ($3.94) and the Michigan average ($3.97).

If you make it up toward Saginaw, you'll be paying $3.93 per gallon. If you're driving up the middle of the state, chances are you'll hit Flint. Gas there is about on par with Plymouth, averaging about $3.78 per gallon today. Fuel in Clare, which some consider the border of Up North and the rest of Michigan, has gas ranging from $3.72 to $3.99 today.
