Moms Talk: How Do You Choose a Baby's Name?

“Just call me ‘T,’” Tawuann Gray usually tells new acquaintances. She knows her unusual first name confuses people; she’s had to explain it her whole life.

That’s why the Plymouth woman chose a simple name when her daughter was born: Mya.

"It was the shortest name I could find and if I could have taken another letter off, I would have," said Gray, who co-owns in Canton. How did she get her unusual name?

“For some reason, my mother allowed my aunt to name me,” Gray said, adding that her aunt told her the name means “princess.”
