More Than 130 Without Power in Canton

Power outage reported in area south of Cherry Hill at Canton Center.

More than 130 Canton residents are without power Tuesday after a morning outages south of Cherry Hill Road west of Canton Center Road. 

According to a DTE Energy outage map, residents lost power at about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday.

About 315 Canton residents between Koppernick and Joy roads east of Interstate 275 had power restored earlier Tuesday after winds caused by Hurricane Sandy knocked out power late Monday.

On Monday, DTE Energy spokesman John Austerberry said that the Michigan-based gas and electric company is anticipating large outages.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory Monday morning for all of southern Michigan, including Midland, Bay, Lenawee, Saginaw, Tuscola, Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Wayne counties. The advisory is in effect until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
