Mother Suspects Political Backlash in Egging of Son's Car

The following information was provided by the Plymouth Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Plymouth Township Police were dispatched Sept. 16 to the 48000 block of Pine Hill Drive for a report of damage to a vehicle, according to a police report.

The vehicle owner told police he parked his 2009 Nissan Cube at the end of his parents’ driveway and left at 7:15 a.m. to drive to Saline to attend a church service, the report said. When church service ended, the man told police, he noticed his vehicle had been attacked by eggs and had scratches from an unknown object, the report said.

The man told police he does not believe the egging happened in Saline and is certain it happened while parked overnight in Plymouth Township. The man told police he does not have any problems with the neighbors, nor does he have anybody in mind in Plymouth who would have damaged his vehicle, the report said.

The man’s mother told police this was not the first time the family had been a victim of vandalism, the report said. She told police that on Sept. 5, someone had egged her home at night and during the previous presidential election, someone had spray-painted “Obama” on her garage door, the report said. The woman told police that with elections in progress again, she feels she and her family might become victims again.

Police have no luck in spotting vehicle that apparently struck bolder

Plymouth Township Police responded Sept. 14 to the 9000 block of Marlowe for a report of damage to property, according to a police report.

According to the report, it appeared an unknown driver was traveling northbound on Marlowe, went off the road, struck a large boulder and driveway reflector, then continued across the grass and re-entered Marlowe.

No vehicle parts were recovered at the scene, the report said, and the vehicle in question has not been located.

Man reports theft from motorhome

Plymouth Township Police met Sept. 16 at the station with a man reporting a theft from his motorhome, according to a police report.

The man told police that between noon on Aug. 1 and 11 a.m. on Sept. 16, someone stole a vehicle radio from his motorhome parked at the 41000 block of Ann Arbor Road, the report said. The man told police the radio was taken out of the dashboard and the wires were cut, but no other items were missing and no further damage was reported to the vehicle.
