National Weather Service Alerts Drivers to Snowy Surprise

What was supposed to be a half-inch snowfall after a rainy day is turning into much more and wreaking havoc.

More than 150 DTE Energy customers are without power according to DTE’s outage tracking website.

A multi-car accident on I-75 late Saturday evening, near the M-57 intersection and Clio and Mott roads (Exit 131), has closed all southbound lanes on I-75.

And the National Weather Service has updated its earlier snow forecast to predict up to three inches of snow overnight. A flood advisory remains in effect for low-lying areas, such as near the Lower Rouge River, though more in the Inkster and Dearborn areas. The changing temperatures have also caused areas of patchy fog. Weather statements issued Saturday evening included cautionary advice for drivers to slow down and watch for black ice.
