National Weather Service Issues Storm Watch

A severe thunderstorm watch, which includes Wayne and Oakland counties, remains in effect until 8 p.m.

At 3:30 p.m. today, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for much of southeastern Michigan, including Wayne and Oakland counties.

Scattered severe storms late this afternoon may produce wind gusts to 70 mph and one-inch diameter hail. Additional storms may blow through tonight, and there is a slight chance some of those may be severe, according to the weather alert. Expect storms to continue on Monday as well.

A "watch" is issued when conditions exist for severe storms to develop.
