Ready for Shopping? The Midnight Hour Awaits

If Black Friday shopping is a can't-miss for you, plenty of retailers won't let you down. Eat early on the 24th, take a power nap, and hit the shops at midnight on Nov. 25. Several will be open.

Both Kohl's locations — Ford Road and Michigan Avenue — will open at midnight and stay open 24 hours. The Ford Road and Michigan Avenue Targets will open at midnight, and shut down at 11 p.m. And of course you have your 24-hour standards, includiing Meijer and Walmart on Ford Road and Michigan Avenue.

If the mad crush of midnight shoppers is a turn-off, there are other options. Stores will be open, either early or at normal hours. (IKEA, for example, opens at its regular time, 10 a.m.)

Showroom of Elegance is jumping into the Black Friday promotions. The jeweler will be open 8 a.m.-6 p.m., and from 8-10 a.m. much of the merchandise will be 50 percent off (with a few exceptions), and then from 10 a.m.-noon, the markdowns will be 40 percent, and so on. They'll also be offering gifts with purchase and other goodies — great ways to get "wow" gifts at a good markdown.

Area retailers, such as Destiny Games, will have sales during regular hours (in this case, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday).
