Weekend Planner: Great Lakes Art Show and More

Here's a look at what's happening around Canton this weekend.

  • Where: The Palace, 6 Championship Drive, Auburn Hills
  • When: 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday; 11:30 a.m., 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and 1 and 5 p.m. Sunday
  • Pricing: $18-$55
  • Why Go: It's a small world after all, as Disney brings the underwater kingdom of The Little Mermaid, the Pride Lands of The Lion King, the starry skies of Peter Pan and more to the ice at The Palace in a spectacle of song and laughter.

  • Where: Suburban Collection Showplace
  • When: 1-8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
  • Cost: $7 for adults, free for children 12 and younger. Free parking. Discounts are available, too. Visit www.greatlakesartfair.com
  • Why Go: It’s a virtual art-a-palooza as the Great Lakes Art Fair returns to Suburban Collection. Browse more than 200 booths full of fine art and fun crafts. Other attractions include the seasonally decorated Grand Gallery, the Town Spa, bistro eats at the Marketplace Cafe, student displays, daily fashion shows, local musicians performing, artist demonstrations and more.

"Annabella Broom"

  • Where: Marquis Theatre, 133 E. Main, Northville
  • When: 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sundays, through Oct. 30; plus 11 a.m. Oct. 22 and 29; and 8 p.m. Oct. 27.
  • Pricing: $8.50
  • Why Go: Kids will have a great time at this not-so-scary musical production of "Annabella Broom," with witches, ghosts and skeletons. Best for ages 3 and older. 

  • Where: 
  • When: 7 p.m. Saturday
  • Cost: $30
  • Why Go: It’s Sweetest Day so why not make it a date night and enjoy food and music. Danny D & The Vagabonds, a Rod Stewart tribute band, will play the legend’s greatest songs, and prior to the show guests can enjoy a reception with savory treats, specials from a florist, jeweler and day spa.

  • Enjoy a night of terrifyingly good fun, with macabre comedy, magic, classic horror film and more at 8 p.m. Friday at the . $12-$15
  • Tap your feet and sing along as the Spotlight Players present an evening of music plucked from stage and screen, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the. $13-$15.
  • . It's the last one of the season, and includes live music, pumpkin carving, cooking demonstrations, a costume contest and more, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday at Preservation Park.
