Canton, MI-“Les Miserables” has been seen by more than 60 million people in 42 countries, has been presented in 21 languages, and is still breaking box-office records everywhere in its 28th year.  Don’t miss your opportunity to see this global stage sensation in your own “backyard”.  Forever After Productions presents “Les Miserables” at the Cherry Hill Theater in Canton from February 1-10. 


     Follow the life of Jean Valjean in 19th-century France as he turns from ex-prisoner to philanthropist all the while being relentlessly hunted by the ruthless lawman Javert after he breaks parole.  This enthralling story of “Les Miserables” (original work by Victor Hugo) encompasses broken dreams, unrequited love, passion, sacrifice, and redemption as it portrays a timeless testament to the endurance of the human spirit.   Young lifes become entwined as Jon Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s daughter Cosette, who subsequently falls in love with Marius, a member of the student ABC Society lead by Enjoiras who incites an uprising against the French monarchy.  The complex story unfolds through musical selections that include “One Day More”, “I Dreamed a Dream”, “God On High”, and Do You Hear the People Sing”.

 “Les Miserables” is produced through arrangements with Musical Theater International.  The book, music and lyrics for the musical are written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.  This author approved abridged edition (rated PG) maintains the integrity of the original work in 2 acts with a running time of just over 2 hours.  It is made possible through the efforts of the following production staff:   director-Steve Debruyne ; stage manager-Lori Cairo; music director-Linda Venable; choreographer-Debby Ash; technical director-Kyle Kaufmann; and producers-Debby Ash and Kyle Kaufmann.
