Park It, On Lakelands Trail

On Saturday September 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m, DNR instructors, community groups and recreation vendors will host cool workshops, booths and displays at Winkelhaus Park (near 10655 Hamburg Road), including archery, bike tuneups, wildlife exhibits, native memories and crafts, boating (paddleboards, kayaks and canoes), wilderness survival, a vintage children's game area, learn-to-fish events and the H.E.R.O./Hamburg RC Flyers Club. Other free events include:
   8:30 a.m.: Ribbon-cutting ceremony for Putnam Township portion of the        Lakelands Trail (it spans 6.3 miles

  • 9 a.m.: Eight-mile bike ride from Pinckney Depot to Winkelhaus Park
  • 9 a.m.: One-mile fun walk from Bennett Park to Winkelhaus Park
  • 9:30 a.m: Five-mile fun run from Country Elementary School to Winkelhaus Park
  • The proposed commuter train will be also be in Hamburg on September 21. http://www.theride.org/AboutUs/Initiatives/WALLY
  • Additional activities (craft fair, book sale, bake sale and historical demonstration) will be nearby ending at 4 PM
