Plymouth Community Arts Council Founder's Donation Provides 3 Sculptures

Joanne Winklemann Hulce's donation enabled the Plymouth Community ARts Council to become the permanent home for three Peter Rockwell Sculptures.

The Plymouth Community Arts Council (PCAC) became the new permanent home for three acrobat sculptures this week, thanks to a generous donation from PCAC founder Joanne Winklemann Hulce.

The figures were crafted by artist Peter Rockwell, known best in Plymouth for his 1986 commissioned travertine figures in the Township Park.

The sculptures, two males and one female, are displayed individually atop the blue lobby Front Wall at the PCAC, located at 774 N. Sheldon Road. They were originally designed to stack vertically, all three perfectly balanced one on top of the other. Each is about one-half human scale.

The PCAC also has on exhibit, three small carerra marble Peter Rockwell pieces, created from marble brought over from Italy.

Rockwell’s curriculum vitae includes 28 solo shows, one of which was at the PCAC in 1986. The artist currently resides in Italy.
