Property Upkeep and Body Upkeep Have Similar Characteristics

Fitness trainer and author, Greg Greene extols the virtues and similarities of putting in work on our homes and on our body.

It is amazing just how similar home upkeep is to body fitness upkeep, as it relates to drive and initiative, cause and effect, effort and reward.

Anyone who takes pride in the care and maintenance of their house and surrounding property knows that it never ends. What I mean by that is that the work to constantly improve it doesn’t really stop. There is always something more to do.

Oh, sure, you can stop today’s chores of primping, cutting, edging, fertilizing, etc., when you have accomplished a lot, but tomorrow there will be something else for you to do. Why? Because you care.

So it is with our body. The hard truth is that how much we care, or prioritize, about our body is reflected much in the same way as in our homes. The proof is in the appearance. Those who put in the work reap the rewards. Those who do not experience a decline.

What we do for our body today, whether it be to implement a great healthy addition to or subtraction from our diet, taking up a cardio-vascular benefit workout, or using muscular resistance and stretching for the first time, has a future payoff much like trimming shrubs and watering the lawn. However, tomorrow you must do more. There are other chores to be done. On it goes.

The more we adhere to the details of homecare and body care, and the more it becomes a lifestyle change for us, the more we are rewarded with the results we truly desire.

I’ve said this before, and it deserves repeating. Work around the house should be considered another avenue toward body fitness. The movements that you make in carrying out your chores are all opportunities for greater physical fitness! For those who believe in multi-tasking, this is ideal.
