Relay for Life: Team BAZINGA!

I'm not above begging, so please take just a moment to read this. You have my deepest appreciation.

Have you ever had a moment of clarity so profound that you’re yanked from your normal state of mind?

This happened to me a few weeks ago when I saw a commercial for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. I remember I was in my living room, feeling bad for myself because I was having such a crap time finding quality people to go on dates with.

One moment I’m doing the “poor me” thing, and the next I’ve got tears streaming down my face because I’m in the midst of a commercial with the tag line “Less cancer, more birthdays”. And that one phrase is so profound that it stopped me in my tracks and got me to thinking about it. I can’t think of one person who hasn’t been affected by cancer in some way or another. Friends, family, or self, any way you look at it, something needs to be done.

So that’s why I started Team BAZINGA!, a small team of about 12 members, to walk in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for life. The event is at in Canton, May 19-20, and we are excited to be doing this. It’s down to the wire at this point — only 10 more days til the walk!

For those of you who are not familiar with Relay for Life, it’s a 24-hour relay-style walk to raise funds to fight cancer. Money raised goes towards research funding, resources for the cancer.org website and 24-hour hotline, Hope Lodge, which provides lodging assistance for cancer patients seeking treatment outside of their city, TLC kits for hair loss, rides to treatment, endless support, and much, MUCH more. I’m really geeked about this, and I’m looking for any donations I can get.

Even $1 would be appreciated. The ACS has a secure site for credit card donations, so here’s my shameless plug: please donate to the cause J If you are interested in donating, please visit the site below to find my own personal page, and click on the “Donate on my Behalf”. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I’m excited to walk towards a world with less cancer and more birthdays <3
