View From the Village: Gluten-Free at Liberty Street
Liberty Street Brewing Company is offering gluten-free options, check them out!
Last night we celebrated our neighbor John's birthday. I was surprised to learn that the celebration would be at the . Don't get me wrong, I love Liberty Street Brewing. They have exceptional beer, and it's a great place to hang out. But John and his wife Amy are both gluten-intolerant. Beer isn't generally on their list of can-haves, unless the beer is gluten-free. I was delighted to learn that right now Liberty Street has a batch of gluten-free beer, called G-Free, and it is good stuff. It's not as sorghum-sweet as others I've had, and it has a nice, slightly citrus finish.
The past five years or so I've had a lot of friends discover that they feel so much better if they eliminate gluten from their diet. I have a range of friends who go from just feeling better without gluten to friends with celiac disease. I, fortunately, don't have those issues. I say fortunately because I pretty much live on beer and pasta. For my friends, I am delighted Liberty Street Brewing is offering an alternative.
Aside from the gluten-free beer, Liberty Street Brewing is now offering hard cider, and it is wonderful. That's another gluten-free option, and it will please your non-beer-drinking friends. Their house-blended root beer is another great option, and it makes a great root beer float.
