View from the Village: The Pumpkin Tower of Death!

The Haunted Halloween Block Party was a huge success due to volunteers.

This past Sunday was the Haunted Halloween Block Party here in Old Village, and I have to tell you what Patrick Kelleher and Brian Patton over at Headfirst Printing did for us this year. They printed up dozens of t-shirts and gave them away.

One of our games at the party is a pumpkin stacking game, where the contestant tries to stack as many pumpkins as possible. We call it “The Pumpkin Tower of Death,” though the only deaths so far have been pumpkins. This year we got to give out “Pumpkin Tower of Death” t-shirts, thanks to Headfirst Printing.  I am proud to say, I got to help Patrick design the t-shirts. What do you think?

We work this party on a shoe-string budget, depending, as Blanche DuBois would say, “on the kindness of strangers.” This year the party was again an enormous success, with many hard working volunteers giving up their time and energy.  I want to thank them all, but I wanted to give a special shout out to Headfirst Printing for the shirts, to Jim Satterfield for our creepy cemetery, and Community Financial Credit Union for underwriting the choo choo train! Great job!
