Success does not come easy

Experiencing a lot of challenges, frustrations and difficulties can make you weak or strong as a person. It does not ask your permission, it simply demands you make choices. It either forces you to give up or make you harrow through the roughs and succeed. Often, giving up appears easier and more practical than continuing forward.  When you feel too challenged, it becomes normal at times to interpret that the environment you are in is so against you. You feel all alone.  Yes, the first six months of my business development, I have to learn the business both theoretically and practically almost on my own, yet I am not free from the challenges.  My mind set was, it is easy and simple that anyone can do it. I realized like the rest I have to experience and develop a clear understanding of the business and the people I will encounter and serve in this new career. Luckily in my case, I am blessed with a great work environment and a family environment quite supportive of the new venture I decided to engage - as professional Realtor.

As common saying goes, I paraphrase you get what you make.  There is so much to be said with this common saying. You train just like the rest and you venture like most, but in the final stop it is you who makes it happen.  Yes, emotional support maybe there for you but you have to believe you can make it. Otherwise, no one will make it for you.  Especially that challenges come in different forms, like weather inclement, clients’ needs, clients’ personality chemistry, schedule conflicts, appraisal reports not expected, inspection results worse than you initially expected and changes in clients’ finances, home conditions and locations to name few.  These variables are important considerations to make decisions not tomorrow but ASAP.  So, you have to think through your feet – as the common adage goes.

Adding the various challenging factors are be accounted for, like personality chemistry as it comes into play that can make your service work complicated instead of easier. Developing your own business is not too different from being an employee. You deal with different personalities and individuals from different backgrounds with varying needs. Except, owning your own business lends a reality to handle all the work by yourself for others and almost by yourself and no one else.  Building your own business does not allow you to call in sick or be on vacation with pay. You make it or you break it. When you don’t go to work, you don’t get paid.  Of course, you can fire and/or hire yourself too. Similarly, owning a business can set yourself financially free or you can impair yourself financially too.  The goal you often keep in mind is to enjoy what you do and be successful doing it.

Developing a business if often the route few people undertake because it involves risk and’ YOU’  are alone in front to tackle the attached tasks  for the most part.  You make your own success and not someone else. Becoming a professional Realtor does not only involve the licensing cost’s requirement, it comes with other investment costs such as: pre-licensing,  continuing education, professional memberships, advertising, wear and tear of your car,  office costs – rents and other dues, marketing cost, success and failures of your transactions which will not be compensated, clothing, office supplies and etc.  This is in addition to going through the grinds of the weather which even the best weather forecaster sometimes will not prepare you well. Yet, when you are out there you have to make things easy and as safe and comfortable the best you can.  Ample challenges confronts you that often temps you to quit, but you have to believe in yourself and trust yourself that you can succeed with God’s blessings.

Developing your own business asks you act as the CEO, CFO, COO, HR, the Employee and the Sanitation and Safety In-charge and etc.,  You wear and set the different hats to fit as required and must do the best you can to function properly in order to deliver the greatest outcome you aim to accomplish.  Because at the end of the day, you get what you make.  You “reap what you sow” as the saying goes.
