Bird Elementary School car line rousted by Plymouth Township Police

Plymouth Township police yesterday rousted parents waiting in the car line on Ann Arbor Trail to pick up their students from Bird Elementary School.  I had to circle around the block until I was able to pull into the drive at the school. My kindergarten son was standing in the rain! The officer would not allow any car-line to form.

The school office told me that Township Police are going to start issuing tickets to parents who are 'obstructing traffic' but are really just waiting to pick up their students.

Every school has a car-line at drop-off and dismissal! What about the mess of obstructed traffic around Plymouth Canton Educational Park as all the high-school students drive to school in the morning. One can't drive anywhere in that area at that time of the morning. Are all the high-school students who are waiting to turn into the school going to be issued tickets as well? I hope not and I hope Bird parents aren't issued tickets either.

This parent is quite disappointed in the lack of judgement Plymouth Township Police used yesterday- especially in the rain. Better planning and a better solution needs to be reached than blaring sirens at good parents waiting to pick up their children.
